Kansas Crew is a growing program with a long history at the University.  Crew is the oldest and traditionally largest group of its kind at the University, founded in 1977.  Among our alumni are national team and Olympic rowers, some who are currently coaching and rowing at an elite, professional level.  Current rowers are also earning success at a national level; the team has brought home 2 gold, silver, and a bronze medal from nationals over the past few years.

If you are a competitive athlete, with the desire to work hard, the mentality to push yourself and your teammates, and the desire to compete in collegiate athletics, crew is the perfect mental and physical outlet for you.  Those who are gifted with height and physical athleticism will have an advantage, but people willing to train hard and with the right mentality can reach an equal or greater level of success.

Crew attracts all types of people, but those who make it to a higher level of competition are also often the brightest; crew alumni have graduated from just about every course of study at the university including: architecture, engineering, pre-med and pre-law.  If anything, the life-style and organizational skills required for serious training help student-athletes succeed.  Crew is also a great social outlet; the team becomes very close through travel and practices, especially for those who row throughout their collegiate careers.
