Kanas Crew receives roughly 15% of it’s revenues from the University. In order to operate we have several other avenues to generate funding. These include:
Rent-A-Rowers: Each Fall and Spring semester our student-athletes do odd jobs for University staff. These include yard work, painting, catering jobs on campus, etc. Each rower is required to fulfill 15 hours per semester.
If you would like to reserve rent-a-rower services for the fall or spring semester or for summer work please send an email to kansascrew@gmail.com. The cost for each rower is $15.00 per hour with a minimum of 4 hours per rower.
Erg-A-Thon: Early in the fall semester an erg is placed on Wescoe Beach and is kept running for 24 hours straight. Last year the team completed 340,000 meters which is roughly 200 miles! Rowers send out letters to friends and family requesting sponsorship for their part in the event. Each rower will typically be present supporting their teammates or rowing for an hour or two.
Donations: We always appreciate sponsorships. “Pulling Together” is a club that we’ve establish in order to help us upgrade our equipment or help athletes attend certain regattas. If you would be interested in joining the club by making a financial contribution please click here. This link will take you to the KU Endowment’s webpage where you can directly make a donation for Kansas Crew. For a list of current members of Pulling Together please click here. We appreciate any assistance you can give us. These donations are tax deductible.
Our club operates on a tight budget. In order to travel across the nation with several young student-athletes as well as maintain and purchase new equipment fundraising is an integral part of this team. We appreciate all the hours our rowers put in as well as the monetary support of friends, family, alumni and community.
